Not everything will be relevant to you, but it's a good idea to keep notes and mark those that are with a score.

1 - General Style
- Do you prefer ‘formal’ regulated gardens, emphasising ordered geometric shapes,
or ‘informal’ ‘cottage-type’ gardens that feature more natural and rustic characteristics?
- All gardens will inevitably have some mix of both characteristics, but which style would you prefer to see emphasised?
- Are there any other styles of garden you admire such as;
French, Japanese, Mediterranean, Arabian, Woodland, or Tropical?

- Parking, garages, and access?
- Other storage needs?
- Access routes to house and services?
- Any good views to be enhanced, or bad views to be screened?
- Common direction of winds - Any windbreaks required?
3 - Uses of Garden
- How many people will be using the garden?
- Terrace(s) or Patios?
- Barbecue facilities (and/or fire-pit)?
- Built-in seating?
- Other seating areas away from the main terrace (sun or shaded?)
- What are your desired construction materials?
- Lawns?
- Vegetable or herb areas?
- Children’s play area - (Ages)?
- Do you have any hobbies or activities which will involve using the garden?
4 - Overview
- How much interest do you have in gardening?
- How much time do you have available?
- Are you looking for 'low-maintenance' or, do you love gardening?
- What are your general likes and dislikes?
- Type and age of the building?
- Are there any proposed extensions or alterations planned?
- Do you have a budget in mind for the garden?
5 - New Structures
Please indicate if you would like any of the following -

- Gazebo's and Garden rooms
- Statues and/or Follies

- Water features
- What are your preferred boundary styles? ie - hedges, types of fences etc.
6 - Plants
- Do you have existing plants that you particularly want to protect, or move to new locations?
